What are veneers?
Veneers are wafer-thin ceramic veneers that are bonded to the front teeth with a special adhesive. Very little of the natural tooth needs to be removed. Normally 0.3 mm is enough. It is a beautiful and at the same time tooth-friendly solution to create great aesthetics. In most cases, these veneers can be used to design the appearance of the teeth according to your wishes.
What are the benefits of veneers?
Veneers cover the teeth in the visible area. This means that they can be used to reshape the aesthetics and appearance of teeth, for example to compensate for crooked teeth, close gaps between teeth or restore the original shape of front teeth that are not or no longer attractive. Veneers are also suitable for reconstructing chipped teeth.
What would my teeth look like with veneers?
In our dental practice in Bochum, it is possible to simulate the expected result of the treatment with a 3D scan of your teeth. We can also digitally edit the expected treatment result in photos so that you can see what the final result might look like.
What are non-prep veneers?
Non-prep veneers are a special form of veneers that can be made and bonded to your teeth without grinding down the healthy teeth. This is possible in a surprising number of cases. We will be happy to advise you.
Which veneers are the best?
There is no general answer to this question. Ceramic veneers are highly customized and are adapted to the requirements of each individual case. In principle, however, it can be said that the less of the natural healthy tooth that needs to be ground down, the better. In our dental practice in Bochum, we try to grind as little of the healthy tooth as possible, ideally we try to do it completely without grinding.
How long do veneers last?
Veneers normally last a lifetime. Veneers that have become discolored over time can be whitened again as part of professional teeth cleaning. If they are heavily discolored, they can also be polished again.
How long does the treatment take?
Depending on the complexity, it usually takes two to three longer sessions. We would be happy to advise you on how long the treatment would take for your individual case.
How much do veneers cost?
The ceramic veneers in our dental practice in Bochum are custom-made for you. Depending on the complexity and design, veneers can cost between €500 and €800 per tooth. In some cases, it is possible to receive a subsidy from the health insurance company. Before treatment, you will be informed in detail about the possible costs in your specific case. It is possible to pay the costs in installments.
Does health insurance pay for veneers?
For purely cosmetic veneers, the statutory health insurance fund does not pay a subsidy. In some cases with a medical indication, however, there may be a subsidy from the health insurance company. We will be happy to advise you on this. Most private health insurance companies do not pay for cosmetic veneers either. Private health insurance companies may also provide a subsidy in some medically necessary cases. However, it is possible to pay the costs in installments.
Why are veneers cheaper abroad?
Dental clinics and dentists from Turkey and other countries often advertise complete treatment within a very short time. Often it is not only implants that are advertised, but also an aesthetically pleasing smile. And all this is often offered as a wellness package including a vacation at discounted prices. However, natural aesthetics take time!
What makes a veneer treatment reliable?
For a reliable, high-quality treatment, the veneers are planned together with the patient and the dental laboratory carrying out the work. The natural tooth does not have a uniform color, but has different shades, translucencies and light reflections in different areas. Another point is the connection between the shape of the face, the character, the tooth shapes and the tooth positions. Taking these characteristics into account during planning requires not only qualifications and experience, but above all care and time.
