What is tooth decay?

Caries is the most common chronic disease worldwide. Specific bacteria cause caries-causing bacteria to accumulate. These form their own network and multiply on the tooth, whereby the tooth is slowly decomposed by the bacteria. The progression is always in the direction of the tooth nerve.

How do I recognize tooth decay?

Caries is best seen on x-rays, but can also be seen with the naked eye. Caries usually appears as dark spots in the fissures, but the very common "proximal" caries, which starts in the spaces between the teeth, can only be diagnosed by the dentist using special techniques.

How can I prevent tooth decay?

The risk of developing tooth decay can be reduced by cutting down on sugary foods. Bacteria can feed on sugar and thus further expand their network.

What are composite / resin fillings?

Composite fillings are used with a tooth-colored filling material in both the anterior and posterior regions. A composite filling has excellent durability and very good aesthetics and can be used in almost all cases.

How much does a composite filling cost?

Composite fillings are subsidized by your health insurance company. In most cases, your own contribution is between €55 and €90 per filling. How much you ultimately pay depends on the subsidy from your health insurance company and the size of the filling. How long does the treatment take?

A composite filling is placed in one treatment session. Depending on the complexity and size of the restoration, a treatment session can last between 15 minutes and an hour. We will be happy to advise you personally on the approximate duration of your treatment session.

How long does a composite filling last?

A well-placed composite filling can last a lifetime with good oral hygiene.
